It's a bit of a design flaw in my opinion but I have seen a lot of these setups on B & S engines and the plastic sleeve that holds it all together is far too easy to break. I have never seen one on as mower that didn't have at least one of the four arms cracked. It will still work fine if two are broken as long as they are on opposite sides. I recommend using graphite lubricant on the slide (no "wet" lubricants that collect dust).
