when I switched my mower over to a mulcher it was a mess. Grass blew everywhere, I was covered in clippings by the time I finished mowing. Grass blew out of every part of the cutting deck it could. As for the mulching, it was horrible. I checked with the repair shops was assured by everything was fine that the blade was a mulching blade was correct for my mower. After some research I found that the blade on my mower was a 3in1, it was universal for using with a bagger, side discharge and mulching. Any blade designed to create enough force to blow grass all the way up into a bag is not going to perform well when you put a mulching plug in the discharge chute. All the wind created by the 3 in 1 blades was causing my mess. I put these mulching blades on and it made a big difference. there is still a little grass blow out, but it's nothing like it was before. The cut looks more even. and I haven't had to deal with the clumps of grass the other blades left behind. It still blows hard enough if you want to take the mulching plug out and use the side discharge chute. 3in1 or high lift blades are not good for mulching.
