After doing a little research we found that we were able to make a couple of small repairs with new parts - and this was perfect. Far less expensive and the seller was very responsive. The part looks different than the photo, but the seller explained that it's the same part - the manufacturer just changed the shape slightly. 8" RENEGADE BLADE® - Carbide Bruschcutter Blades 3pk Review

I did some research into bruchcutter blades and none of the regular non-carbide blades were reported to last very long. This blade is about the same price, but carbide, and 80 tooth on top of that. I'm still using the first blade after cutting berry bushes, thick sapling like weeds and even hitting a hidden metal fence post. The fence post took a couple teeth off, but it still has PLENTY of teeth left. I think the seller's claim about the superiority of the high 80 tooth count is correct (the other carbide blade I saw was 36 tooth). It does seem to cut very smooth and the extra teeth allow it to last longer and have some extras to sacrifice to fence posts, etc. The only negative was that the included 20mm adapter I received was thicker than the blade, and prevented the nut on my trimmer head from correctly clamping the blade. I thinned it out in about 5-10 mins with my dremel tool, but I hope they get this corrected.

I might be jumping the gun to post a review after only 1 use, but since there aren't too many reviews yet for this product and since mowing season is here, I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I had been using a corded electric mower for years, but it was starting to fall apart, and I was getting really tired of dealing with the hassles of managing a long cord -- I'll bet the cord added a good 15 minutes to my average mow, due to various obstacles, cord repeatedly coming unplugged, me tripping over the cord, etc.

After reading reviews of many cordless electric mowers, I thought I'd give this a shot, mainly because the comments seemed quite positive with respect to battery life: Although my yard isn't huge (maybe 1/4 acre), it's a bit hilly and the grass gets long quickly in the spring; and it seemed like a common theme in the reviews of several Black & Decker cordless models was that battery life might be an issue.

I ordered on Amazon, and although the listing at the time said that it might take 2-4 weeks before it shipped, I was pleasantly surprised that it arrived in less than 2 weeks. Assembly was pretty simple, and the recommended battery charging time of 15 hours was on target. The battery is removable (it's heavy, but this was not a surprise), and can be charged either when attached or removed.

The first mowing went great: It tackled the moderately-high grass and hills, and I was done within an hour. Battery remained in the "green zone" throughout. It's not self-propelled, and definitely requires a solid pushing, but this was true of my previous mower, and this one required no additional effort.

The only negative was that the rubber back flap tore partially - but this might have been my fault. I think I can patch it up.

But overall, I'm very pleased -- it appears to be solidly-built, and it performed well on my biggest concern of battery life. I'll update this review if my experience changes significantly after more uses.

Hitachi CS33EB/16 16-Inch 32.2cc PureFire 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw with Anti-Vibration System (CARB Compliant) Review

I bought this saw because I like Hitachi tools and there is a $[...] rebate from Hitachi until 12/31/10. I was hesitant because of the other reviews, but the price inticed me. The saw came and this morning I decided to give it a try. It was 41F outside so I figured it would be a good day to run tests. I read the instructions and filled it with gas and chain oil. It took about 30 pulls to get the gas all the way into the system and then it fired right up. Since it was new, I knew it would be tight, so I just let it idle for about 3 minutes. The chain would not move unless the rpms were pretty high and at first I thought I needed to adjust that, but after some use it broke in and is now moving as soon as I crack the throttle. I ran the saw for about 2 hours, cutting down 2 large scrub oak trees (bushes). This saw is not under powered, you just have to let it break in a bit and it likes lots of RPM. It did not get hot at all and idles perfectly. If I run it a max RPM and then quickly let off the trigger it will stall, but it starts with a single pull almost every time. My only issue is the on off switch is located where my hand can acidentally shut it off. Once again, though, I also noticed that my hand would bump the switch when I was moving th saw in a way that might be dangerous, so maybe they actually did this on purpose. The Oregon bar and chain are excellent. All in all, it's a great saw for little money. Don't expect it to do the job of a big saw and you will be very happy.
