I have now used this edger for a whole season (going through two blades in the process), having purchased it in the spring of 2011. I can now speak of its reliability. When one thinks of an electric edger, the impression of frailty comes to mind. That is not a characteristic of this unit. When I first received it, I took it over to my father-in-law's for a test run. He had given up on edging his lawn a couple of years ago and the grass had grown over the curb and into the gutter. Years ago he put red brick around his flowerbeds to make keeping his lawn a little easier, but lost interest in lawn work as the years passed. This unit lets me maintain his lawn with very little effort. After the second or third time I trimmed his lawn, neighbors would stop by and comment on how good it looks once again.

The unit requires very little electric drain, and I have yet to find any grass it can't cut through. It is a lightweight machine that trims like a heavyweight! I am very pleased with the quality and durability of the unit. the blades are simple to replace, and cleanup is just as easy. I use a screwdriver to get in all the little cracks and crevaces, and an old paintbrush to brush off any sand/grass left in the cutting area of the blade.

Who could ask for more, the unit is easy to use, easy to clean and takes up little storage space.

Briggs & Stratton 796475 Cylinder Head Gasket Review

Engine starts fine, idles OK with no flow, but seems to be overloaded when trigger is pulled and the spray starts. It does spray at reduced pressure for a while but seems to overload and stall after a few minutes. I found if I repeatedly pull the trigger rapidly I can keep it going, but if i keep the trigger on, motor will slow down and stall. Motor seems ok but does spew an oil mist some times when starting.

Finally found the problem and solution. The head gasket on the motor was blown. Probably due to one of the 4 head bolts was loose. Motor could run with a light load, but with a crack blown thru the head gasket, the motor stalled when under load because it couldn't generate enough compression. This explains the oil mist I mentioned seeing some times when starting. Unfortunately before discovering this I bought a new pump ($177) - now have an expensive "spare". Anyway replacing the $5.30 head gasket was easy, and it's working good again.
