Product Description

The Oregon 82-513-2 is a spindle assembly for MTD that fits 38 and 42-inch decks for 1998 and newer. It uses star hole blade and it is without a pulley, this is also the newest style "X" housing. It includes an Oregon 98-059 blade and uses Oregon 45-259 bearings, 85-048 spindle shaft, 44-102 pulley for 38-inch decks, and 44-369 for 42-inch decks. It replaces MTD parts 618-0138, 618-0142, and 918-0142.

Oregon 82-513-2 MTD Spindle Assembly with Blade for 38 and 42-Inch Decks 1998 and Newer Review

Considering you'll usually pay almost twice this amount for the exact product locally, it's a pretty nice deal.

A few things to be aware of:

Mine did not come with a pulley or blade nut. Those items must be ordered separately.

The 4 mounting holes are NOT threaded. This means you will need to use a tap and die set to create threads if you want to use your existing mounting bolts. An alternative would be a slightly smaller bolt/nut combo, but if you go this route, be sure to get a high grade bolt and watch for clearance issues from the blade and pulley.

I've ordered 2 of these over the last 2 years, and they come with 42" blades. You may be able to contact the seller and have them ship a 38" blade instead. This is just speculation since I haven't tried it. I was however able to take the pair of new 42" blades to my local farmers co-op and swap them for a pair of new 38" blades. Your results may vary.

MTD Part 791-182529 ASM, FUEL CAP (RED Review

I have a Troy-Bilt Trimmer and I have it hung on the wall vertically with the engine at the top. I suspect that since it is tilted outward (motor end is further away from the wall than the trimmer head) that the gas mixture ate away at the rubber gasket that is embedded in the cap causing the cap to leak. This fixed the issue. I could not find just the gasket on the Troy-Bilt website and Amazon was cheaper than the Troy-Bilt website for this cap & gasket "assembly". I will probably order another one in 3 - 4 years ;)
